In last year’s Burbridge Bowl wrap-up, we discussed the joy each contestant feels as they view regular nick-names like NYC Palookas, Mile High Peanut Pusher, Dumb Blacksmith, and others. However, last year we indicated that one regular nick-name, Ol’ Leg Humper (Ken Bird), did not appear as a contestant. At that time Ken was fighting a much bigger challenge than Burbridge Bowl; a fight for his life against brain cancer. Sadly, we lost Ken on January 18th at age sixty-two. He left behind his wife Heather and seven sons with Zeke the youngest at age eight. All were annual Burbridge Bowl contestants and like their dad, they are excellent athletes. Therefore, our 33rd Burbridge Bowl is being dedicated to Ken Bird. May God rest his soul.
For those of you who knew Ken and were touched by his life, you can keep his memory alive by placing an additional entry into Burbridge Bowl on Ken’s behalf. To do so, please use the entry nick-name of Ol Leg Humper followed by your 3 initials. Any winnings for Ol‘ Leg Humper will go to the Bird Family.
